HABOUR ECO-CARCASS

All our kitchens are made with our unique non-toxic, carbon negative, HARBOUR ECO-CARCASS.

For most kitchens, even the most expensive, the carcasses are an unseen after thought built using toxic MDF and OSB (Chipboard).

We build our carcasses from environmentally friendly, agricultural bi-product (ABP) boards; a more sustainable and low energy alternative to MDF, OSB, or plywood. This means they are not made from wood but instead straw! A natural waste product from cereal crop production (such as wheat). Not only this, the boards are bonded together with the natural ‘glue’ that binds the cellulose fibers of the plant itself together and only a small amount of resin additive which doesn’t contain any added formaldehyde or other VOCs. These agricultural bi-product based boards have stronger screwpull strength, and superior fire resilience properties than MDF, and actually superior moisture resistance properties therefore much better suited for wet environments such as kitchens.

We have precision designed and engineered our HARBOUR ECO-CARASS ensuring they have been completely optimised. This includes maximising their internal volume, making sure no space is wasted (perhaps it’s from our days working with yachts where every cubic centimetre must be used! Even on land space can be precious). To maximise the strength of our carasses we make that as a solid box with 5 sides of 18mm board connected securely along all edges. This includes a solid top and back (most carcasses have an open top and very thin backing and would not be connected on all edges)
