kitchens that love the earth.

Sustainability is not just a side note or buzz word for us but it is who we are from the ground up.

Our Waste Policy.

We have a ‘throughout business’ waste reduction policy. This includes:

Reduced Manufacture Waste: We precision design and manufacture our kitchens so we know exactly how much material we need, significantly reducing waste. We have a tiny workshop bin and we don’t need to burn our offcuts (whilst more sustainable than other forms of heating it does release wonderfully captured carbon into the atmosphere). We use ABP boards in our kitchens which is an agricultural bi-product, helping to reduce agricultural waste.

Reduced Supplier Waste: We encourage our suppliers to minimise their use of plastic packing and wrapping.

Reduced Product Waste: We do not use any single use plastic wrapping when delivering our kitchens. We wrap our kitchens in recycled reusable moving blankets.

Our Carbon Foot Print Policy.

Our ultimate goal is to take more carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere than we put into it. We want to be part of the solution, not the problem. This is an incremental and multi-faceted approach. Some examples of how we are working to achieve this include:

Using carbon capturing materials such as eco-board and wood.

Plant trees for every kitchen made.

Use clean energy whenever possible and try to offset it whenever it's not (we look forward to one day being able to run a full fleet of electric cars and vans!).

Our Non-Toxic Policy.

We believe strongly in having no nasties in our kitchens protecting the environment but also our health and yours.

Everything used in our kitchens including wood, ABP boards, paint, wood filler, board sealant are non-toxic, no/low VOC. Anytime we want to use a new product in our kitchens it has to pass our strict non toxic requirements (this can sometimes be rather frustrating in the workshop!). But we feel it's very important.

Our Agricultural Bi-product (ABP) Boards.

We build our carcasses, drawers, and door panels from non-toxic, carbon-negative, environmentally friendly, agricultural bi-product based boards; a more sustainable and low energy alternative to MDF, OSB, or plywood. This means they are not made from wood but instead straw! A natural waste product from cereal crop production (such as wheat). Not only this, the boards are bonded together with the natural ‘glue’ that binds the cellulose fibres of the plant itself together and only a small amount of resin additive which doesn’t contain any added formaldehyde or other VOCs. This agricultural bi-product based board has the similar strength and fire resilience of MDF and chipboard. And actually superior moisture resistance therefore much better suited for wet environments such as kitchens.

Our Timber.

We build our kitchens from responsibly sourced and sustainable solid hard wood. We use American Tulip Wood, which has the net volume (after harvest) of increasing 21.8 million m3 each year.

Our Paint.

All the paints we use are no/low VOC water based paints. This ensures there is nothing harmful for you or the environment. We use natural earth pigments in our paint, which makes them deep and colour rich as well as eco-friendly.

Our Suppliers.

Although we can’t control the environmental credentials of our suppliers, we ensure we try to work with likeminded companies that have strong sustainability policies and truly care about our planet. We will often give feedback on our suppliers packaging for example (often business to business supplier flows can be the hidden culprits for single use plastics).
